- Biography
- Mr Marco Adamo is the Lead Surgeon for bariatric surgery at the prestigious University College London Hospital. He graduated in 1995 with full marks and honours in Palermo, Italy, where he also completed his training in general surgery. Since 2000 he has moved to United Kingdom and has dedicated his activity to advanced laparoscopic surgery and laparoscopic bariatric surgery. He trained for four years at Leeds General Infirmary, where he was running one of the first band adjustment clinic in UK, and for 2 years at Hull Royal Infirmary where he was appointed as consultant in 2006. He has been awarded an MD by Leeds University for his research on appetite hormones and bariatric surgery
Member of the European Association of Endoscopic Surgery (EAES), British Society for Metabolic and Obesity Surgery (BOMS), Association of UpperGI Surgeons (AUGIS) and Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons in UK (ALS), he is a fully established and experienced laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon with an international reputation and over 9 years experience in laparoscopic gastric bypass, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and gastric banding. He has personally performed over 200 bariatric laparoscopic procedures, including complex bariatric revisional surgery. He is a dedicated trainer in laparoscopic bariatric surgery and often runs advanced training courses for UK and European surgeons.
